Casting the Net: 25th September - the HPV vaccine, National ID Cards, Nadine Dorries, Sarah Palin and Bristol Congestion Charge

Thu 25th Sep 2008 – (0 Comments)

Here is the good old netcast. It's a bit of a bumper one today, and you can read the list proper over at Liberal Conspiracy. As for myself, I'm in another busy work period so blogging will continue to be light, especially as the political landscape is only just starting to hot up again.

Here is the list as it appears on Lib Con

New Model Army is one of the first to get out there and say he's proud to be backing slightly strange Lembit Opik for the Lib Dem presidency. Can he do a Boris Johnson?
Political Betting urges caution around the 7% Labour poll boost. This always happens, and you shouldn't get your hopes up.
Jock Coats analyses the inevitability of the political machine to grind on relentlessly, and what it means for "change".
CiF, and anonymous writer discusses arranged marriages, and the exploitation within.
Current Vision thinks unity is over-rated...that's being chummy, not the blogger.
Max Dunbar uses the book, Unjust Rewards, as a launch pad for a discussion on the gap in wealth.
Bristol Blogger uncovers the announcement for a Bristol Congestion charge in...Builder and Engineer magazine? Read for the ensuing comments.
Lanson Boy on why the Lib Dem's should never setlle for the AV system of PR voting. Why exactly do the party continue to let Norman Lamb talk?

Now for the extended list...

Tygerland, and no doubt many others, are quietly laughing and despairing at this interview of Sarah Palin.
Lib Dem Voice and Septicisle, and Unity highlight the latest findings from a complaint submitted by Sunny Hundal regarding Nadine Dorries.
Caron has some views about those wishing to block the safeguarding of children from preventable cancer.
Bob Innes reports, I'm glad to say, on someone in some power actually pushing to free up empty homes for use by people that need them.
Chicken Yoghurt has a short and sharp analysis of the ID card announcement today.
Lib Dem Voice reports that Lib Dem's MPs are the top social networkers online. Give yourselves a pat on the back.
CiF/Simon Fletcher thinks that Brown should be grateful for Boris being in the London job.

Latest Politalks:

So what the hell is going on, Labour are slumping in the polls and yet those most naturally in their shadow able to take their place (the Lib Dems) are failing to capitalise in the polls. And even though the Tories are enjoying high times so much they must think it's the 80's all over again (in more ways than one) they have failed to deliver one serious or credible attack against the government that would show them to be the true heir's to the throne. So to speak. Anyway, on with this weeks Politalks. NSFW as usual, transcript can be found if you go through to read more!
