It looks as though the Telegraph, or someone has finally taken down some of Richard Barnbrook's, only BNP member of the London Assembly, blog postings from their site. Is this a victory for liberty and anti-racism, the BNP back tracking, or just another shallow point made that doesn't solve any of our problems regarding the BNP?

I subscribed to Richard Barnbrook's blog shortly after he posted a controversial article regarding crime in London and what the causes are. It sparked a huge debate in the comments between fairly closed minded BNP supporters, those with fairly coherent points that would align with the BNP, and those that tried to bring the counter argument in against the BNP's rhetoric. I have to say that taking part in it is one of the more fun and challenging debates I've entered for a while.

After that post Richard seemed to take a break. Some said he was just too busy with being a councilor to blog, even though he pledged to do so very frequently to keep Londoners in the know. Since the hiatus he has blessed his fans (of which I am emphatically not a part of) with riveting posts on his questions to Boris Johnson and how the Henley by-election is going. Don't worry, the sarcasm ends here.

It seems that one way or another Richard has been told off, the article "blame the immigrants" along with hours worth of researched material to counter the insane arguments of some BNP fans is no more. Was this because enough people complained to the Telegraph about breaching their rules? Was the BNP itself annoyed at Barnbrook at publicly showing the true face of the party? I don't know that we'll ever know.

What I will say it is, is that it is a shame. These people exist in the country, no amount of rules or censorship is going to stop them from honestly believing in the lie of immigrants and minorities being to blame for societies ills. The BNP must by now realise it is in their interest to cultivate this fear subtly and perhaps they were the cause of the removal of these articles...but even sadder still would be the "no platform" lobby forcing the Telegraph to do exactly what is in the BNP's interests, to seemingly persecute and discriminate against "valid opinions" (as they see them) and to push the issue further underground.
