Gordon Brown is listening now?
Fri 23rd May 2008 – (0 Comments)
Gordon Brown has responded to the absolutely DEVASTATING result in Crewe and Nantwich by claiming that he is "listening", a desperate sense of language that almost pleads with the electorate to trust him going forward in to the future...and rightly so. He should be pleading, he should be begging, in fact he should be display a whole host of traits that are both simultaneously apologetic to the electorate that he and his government have betrayed so badly in the last 6 months and non-conducive to him remaining the leader of this country.
You see it's not too much of a surprise, in all honesty, that the Tories won their first by election in so long. It's also not a surprise that they won by a bigger majority than Labour had holding it. The reality is that the PM has learned to listen too late, if he is even listening at all. If he was truly listening he would have listened to the widespread disdain at his home secretaries policies, and he would have listened to his core voters over things like the 10p tax removal.
The simple fact is that Brown has blundered and buffooned his way through his premiership so far, it's been his way or the highway and he has not once even showed any sign of slowing down or stopping any of his government's policy ideas despite their illiberal and authoritarian motives. He's had the blinkers on, has believed himself unbeatable and has left his power in cruise control...and that should be his downfall if there is an justice in the world.
Gordon Brown is listening now? Well it's too late because quite frankly we're done trying to even talk to him.

So what the hell is going on, Labour are slumping in the polls and yet those most naturally in their shadow able to take their place (the Lib Dems) are failing to capitalise in the polls. And even though the Tories are enjoying high times so much they must think it's the 80's all over again (in more ways than one) they have failed to deliver one serious or credible attack against the government that would show them to be the true heir's to the throne. So to speak. Anyway, on with this weeks Politalks. NSFW as usual, transcript can be found if you go through to read more!
